How to plan a Successful Family Vacation

Plan ahead, have a vacation meeting and get input from everyone in the family about what they would like to do.

• Choose vacation destinations that specialize in pleasing everyone in the family. Check with your travel agent.

• To take advantage of substantial discounts, make your reservations early.

• Calculate your vacation budget early and let the whole family in on the possibilities.

• Schedule any "must do" commitments at the beginning of the trip and have the rest of the vacation for fun.

• Go over your behavior expectations with the kids.

• Even though everyone in the family may be off doing different, exciting things, set aside family time when you all are together.

Plan your daily activities, but don't overdo it. Shift gears if you happen upon a special event.

Buffets, salad bars and cafeterias are great places for kids to eat. Don't regulate too much what they eat on vacation.

• Avoid setting expectations too high, remember that this is a vacation, enjoy each day for what it brings.

Choosing the Best Campground     There are more than 12,000 camps in the United States and choosing the right one can be challenging. There are camps to meet most any schedule, price range or interest from horseback riding, hockey, cooking and even chemistry. Making the correct choice boils down to knowing your options and asking the right questions, says the American Camping Association - ACA - a national organization that provides accreditation and information. The ACA website offers a number of useful resources for parents and campers alike. Visit them at www.acacamps.org. Full - Lehigh Valley Business Directory
